In this professional program on yoga therapy, we aim to bring you the most effective aspects of traditional yoga and ayurveda combined with modern medicine.This module focuses on holistic health and an integrative approach to yoga therapy. Taught by Ganesh Mohan from the respected Indian family of Mohans we will learn specific guidelines for different conditions and general treatment principles will be detailed, empowering you to safely and effectively address Stress and anxiety related conditions through yoga. We have designed this program especially for yoga teachers and advanced practitioners, but it should also be of interest to people from related fields. The goal is to enable participants to integrate newly acquired knowledge immediately in their teaching, particularly in private sessions.
Program of Module 7: Holistic health:
1. Case studies of different health problems of body, breath, and mind.
2. Assorted conditions that require input from information in multiple modules (e.g. diabetes, cancer etc)
3. Analyzing and applying modifications of asana, pranayama, meditation for different people and needs.
4. Holistic sequencing combining goals of body, breath, and mind.
5. Practical sequences for different therapeutic needs.
Ganesh Mohan, son of A. G. Mohan and Indra Mohan, was trained from childhood in yoga and other related areas such as Vedic chanting. He is a doctor, formally trained in both modern medicine and Ayurveda. He is the co-author of the Mohans’ book, Yoga Therapy. He is deeply interested in the profound wisdom of the Yogasutras of Patanjali, which he continues to study and teach. He is also co-translator of Yoga Yajnavalkya, with AG Mohan.
Yoga Philosophy of Patanjali by Hariharananda Aranya

It is a serious and clear presentation of Patanjali’s sutras and Vyasa’s Bhasya, providing these basic texts both in the original Sanskrit and in readable and accurate English. These classical works are augmented by the commentary of Swami Hariharananda Aranya, a scholar and yogi of great repute, who, in his lifetime, was the foremost exponent in India of the Samkhya Yoga system of which the Yoga Aphorisms of Pantanjali are the principle work.

Patanjalis Yoga sutra
Patañjalis Yoga sūtra är den äldsta texten inom yoga darśana, som är en av de sex indiska filosofiska skolorna eller darśana. Yoga sūtra har fyra kapitel, av vilka det första (samādhipāda) behandlar vad som kännetecknar och är syftet med samādhi eller meditativ försjunkenhet. I den andra delen förklaras hur man kan uppnå det målet (sādhanapāda). I den tredje delen beskrivs de övernaturliga krafter som yogautövandet kan medföra (vibhūtipāda). I den fjärde delen framläggs vad som kännetecknar befrielsen (kaivalyapāda).

Yama – vårt förhållningssätt till vår omgivning
- Ahimsa – att vara hänsynsfull och omtänksam mot oss själva och andra, särskilt de som har det svårt eller sämre.
- Satya – korrekt kommunikation i tal, skrift, gester och handlingar.
- Asteya – förmågan att motstå önskan att äga sådant som inte tillhör oss.
- Brahmacharya – avhållsamhet.
- Aparigraha – att inte vara girig eller förmågan att endast ta emot det som är lämpligt och passande.
Niyama – vårt förhållningssätt till oss själva
- Sauca – förmågan att hålla rent runt omkring oss och inom oss.
- Santosa – att kunna vara nöjda med det vi har och det vi inte har.
- Tapas – avlägsnande av orenheter i våra fysiska och mentala system genom korrekta vanor i fråga om sömn, motion, mat och vila.
- Svadhyaya – studiet av de gamla texterna.
- Ishvara pranidhana – tron på en högre intelligens, ett högre väsen.
Asana – kroppsövningar
Pranayama – andningsövningar
Pratyahara – kontroll av sinnesorganen
Dharana – förmågan att fokusera på ett valt objekt
Dhyana – förmågan att skapa en interaktion med det vi försöker förstå
Samadhi – fullständigt uppgående i det objekt som ska förstås
Alla åtta delar är sammanflätade, men det kan vara lämpligt för en yogaadept att börja med asana och pranayama.
